I'm not going to lie choosing white interior paint is a pretty overwhelming task. I mean who new there are over 150 shades of white to choose from? So I'm going to help you choose the right white to avoid that hefty costly mistake!
Okay, so white paint isn't just white paint, you see it has an undertone! (Hairdressers will get me).
There are shades of white with a warm undertone and shades of white with a cool undertone. White reflects light so it is perfect for small spaces but also in larger areas to create a clean and modern look, while warm whites will soften the feel in a room creating a calm and welcoming home, while the cool whites will create a greater feeling of openness and a crisp contemporary space.
I really don't recommend choosing white paint from looking at the paint store on those little paint cards under all that horrible lighting. I suggest getting a few you like head home and stick them on the wall with bluetak in every room of the house, or buy some samples and do two coats to correctly get the colour. Throughout the day keep checking the sample to see how it reflects against your finishes and the natural light whether its morning sun or afternoon sun. Remember north facing houses look better and brighter with a cool white, while south facing houses look better and warmer with a warm white.
